  • First time to visit the War Remnants Museum. Actually I can not imagine the brutal, cruel American soldiers have done for the people of Vietnam during the war. Although war was over our country but its influence remains. Agent Orange has terrible destructive to the next generation, the children with the burning dream, yearn to be without a limb, do I have to think a lot. Your smile makes the we have throbbing heart.

On 31.8.1858 the French attack Da Nang start wars of aggression put the colonial rule of Vietnam. For almost 100 years the heroic Vietnamese people waged war national liberation and independence for national freedom. On 02.09.1945, after the victory of the August Revolution, President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, ending French colonial domination, assert independence and freedom of the Vietnamese people. But the French and then the U.S. imperialists continue waging war of aggression, attempted to restore the rule and set new kind of colonialism in Vietnam. During the past 30 years, the Vietnamese people have resilience to fight with so many sacrifices and hardships to protect its independence and freedom.

     
On 04.30.1975, the resistance of the Vietnamese people won complete victory: peace, independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country is restored.

     
To save the heroic remnants of the Vietnamese people in the struggle against the invading forces, and to denounce the crimes and highlighted the devastating consequences of the war of aggression, on 4 / 9/1975 The Gallery of American crime - Wei is open for the public. Then, American crime Gallery - Wei was renamed the War Crimes of aggression Gallery (11/10/1990) before becoming the War Remnants Museum (07/04/1995) .

Currently the War Remnants Museum is a unit under the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho Chi Minh City. Located in the museum system of Vietnam, the museum for world peace and a member of the World Council of Museums (ICOM), the War Remnants Museum, the Museum of thematic research, collection , storage, preservation and display of the material, photographs, artifacts on the evidence of the crime and the consequences of the war that the invasion force has caused to Vietnam. Thereby, the Museum of educating the public, especially the younger generation, mental struggle for independence and freedom of the country, the anti-war sense of invasion, to protect peace and solidarity friendship between the peoples of the world.

     
Museum store more than 20,000 documents, exhibits and films, in which more than 1,500 documents, artifacts, films have been applied to introduce in eight thematic exhibition frequently. In 35 years, the Museum has welcomed over 15 million visitors at home and abroad. Currently with about 500,000 visitors each year, the War Remnants Museum is one of the only cultural tourism to attract high public credibility at home and abroad.

      
With these achievements, the War Remnants Museum was awarded the Labour Order No. 3 (1995), 2nd Class Labor Medal (2001).

War Remnants Museum receives Chinese tradition of the City People's Committee to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the War Remnants Museum (04/9/1975 - 04/9/2010)

     
Since 2002, the War Remnants Museum is new construction to a comprehensive modernization activities. On 30/4/2010, has completed construction work. Currently building new content display, extend the period of the French invasion of Japan and the postwar period.
